SPACE Program

The Sustained Passenger and Cargo Engineering Program.

With the crowding of our cities and the traffic that all of our vehicles and transportation systems create, we may have a solution. As populations grow we can either push ahead leveraging all of the ingenuity and invention from ourselves and those that came before us, or we we can return to the stone age.

Thoughts:
-In crowded metropolitan areas the vehicle traffic is caused not only by the number of vehicles, but by their interaction.
-Many cities have people with daily commutes that pass through the city with sets of traffic criss-crossing. Think of those living in the south working to the north of the city and those living in the north working to the south of the city. These people pass each other everyday. Moving is an idea, but with employees frequently changing jobs, the family stays where the children are in school and cannot move due to a parent's job.
- Personally owned pods that can be made to the owner's liking. Cleaned and maintained by owner. Eliminate the problems of interaction in public transportation.

Concepts:
- Privately owned/leased 2, 4, 6 person sized pods (6 person is 8'x8' cube)
- Routing based on networking and standard routing protocols
(If you leave at a specified time it can plan your slot in the queue. For on demand you will get routed on the fly.)
- Tracks based on cube-shaped frame the sized to fit a 6 person cube shaped pod.
- Pods can go in any side of the cube and out any side.
- Straight line tracks of cubes. Tolerance for curves, but not necessary.
- Cubes are stackable
- Machines to lay down the cube shaped frames and switch them out.

Engineering Fundamentals:
- Power
- Communication
- Continuity
- Materials  - size, strength, weight
- Cube cost
- Mode of sustainable movement - reasonable acceleration and deceleration, maintainable

Problems:
-Comes down to cost of cube
-Right of way - on the ground. Suspended - unsustainable

Additional thoughts:
- Mail pod - loaded at mail center - mail pod replaces mailroom at apartment complex
- Groceries or shop pod
- Moving restaurant pods
